About the activities of Alliance "Ukraine without orphans"
Alliance "Ukraine without orphans" is a nationwide movement of Christian churches and organizations which are intended to implement the following: reach all orphans with genuine Christian care, make it possible for every child to grow up in a loving family and prevent child abandonment in Ukraine.
Ukraine is a large European country with a complex history and strong Christian traditions. But seventy years of Soviet rule and the difficulties of becoming a young country have left their mark on the most vulnerable groups of society - children that are left without the protection of a family. 10 000 children from disadvantaged families annually become orphans among living parents who do not care about them, display violence and ultimately become their biggest threat and danger. 24 000 orphans are in need of adoption. 90 % of those them are children with special needs and children over the age. 104 000 children are living in orphanage by the request of their parents and they are in fact orphans with living parents. They live a lonely life suffering from humiliation and violence coming from their parents. 250 000 children are exposed to violence and humiliation families; many of them run away from home, become orphans and end up in state orphanages. 1.5 million children live in single-parent families and are half orphans . The life of these children practically does not differ from the life of orphans. For the most part, it is the same for children who reached the age and children with special needs.
The strategy of the Alliance is aimed to achieve three goals:
- Direct the activities of members of the Alliance towards a vision - "Ukraine without orphans" as well as attract and equip new members;
- Motivate the Church and the Christian community in practical ministry to children and families, creating immediate opportunities for its implementation;
- Influence the formation of public opinion and public policy in the protection of children’s rights, promote family values and the importance of helping children.
Today, the Alliance "Ukraine without orphans" united over 100 Christian organizations that serve to more than 17 000 Ukrainian orphans. By becoming a member of the Alliance, each of these organizations gets an opportunity to influence not only the consequences of the problem but also the very cause of child abandonment problem. Through participation in the Alliance, organizations receive up to date information on the situation of orphaned children as well as the latest and complete statistics by region and country in order to constantly improve skills and acquire new knowledge, get the latest programs and resources for children and families and more.
To reach its goal, the Alliance cooperates with public, community organizations, government and churches in different ways.
For the development and strengthening of NGOs that work with orphans, the Alliance continually initiates and conducts vocational conferences, workshops and trainings. To reach more audiences Alliance creates and distributes a variety of resource materials, such as motivational and informational films, videos, books, brochures, how-to, tutorials, and more.
To influence the activities of public authorities, the Alliance actively participates in relevant working and advisory groups, expert and community councils that are established by relevant ministries and departments, working closely with the Ukrainian Ombudsman who works towards changing legislation and so on. Representatives of the government, in their turn, participate in events that Alliance initiates and conducts.
To develop and strengthen the ministry to orphans, Alliance initiates and conducts a variety of informational, motivational and training events for pastors and ministers of different levels; creates and distributes resource materials of different thematic range. One of the most powerful events is "Ukrainian Day of Prayer for Orphans" which brings together around a thousand churches, government and community leaders as well as tens of thousands of orphans.
To solve the problem of orphan hood in Ukraine, the Alliance brings together and coordinates the efforts of non-governmental organizations, churches and authorities at regional levels. With this objective, the Alliance conducts regional conferences "District without orphans" that allow to analyze the situation and problems in separate regions or cities, to evaluate the potential of local organizations, churches and ministers as well as collaborate with representatives of public authorities and specialized services.
To form the public opinion, impact the society, draw its attention to the problem of child abandonment and promote family values in society, the Alliance initiates and conducts various public projects. Among the most popular and vas projects are a bike ride - "Ukraine and the World without orphans" (a team of former orphans and their parents traveling on bicycles around Ukraine and other countries advocating for adoption and helping disadvantaged children), national soccer competitions "Soccer festival that gives hope” (sport games with the participation of orphans and orphanage residents with a final match at the Independence Square in Kiev). Also, through the medium of the Alliance, many flash mobs, press conferences, exhibitions are being organized.
Every child is precious and is entitled to protection, full development and nurture in a loving family. It is time for the Christian community to take responsibility and join efforts to help disadvantaged children as well as needy families. It is important to not only meet the basic needs of a child or a family but to provide them with social support. We desire their spiritual awakening through preaching the Gospel in word and deed.
Про діяльність Альянсу "Україна без сиріт"
Щороку в Україні 10 000 дітей стають сиротами. Потребують усиновлення 24 000 дітей-сиріт, 90% з яких – це діти з особливими потребами та діти старшого віку. 104 000 дітей знаходяться в інтернатах за заявою батьків, і є фактичними сиротами при живих батьках. 250 000 дітей зазнають насилля та приниження в сім’ях. 1 500 000 дітей проживають в неповних сім’ях і є напівсиротами. Альянс «Україна без сиріт» - це всеукраїнський рух християн, церков та організацій, мета якого дати можливість кожній дитині зростати в люблячій сім’ї та попередити сирітство в Україні. Стратегія діяльності Альянсу спрямована на досягнення трьох цілей:
- направляти діяльність учасників Альянсу в напрямку досягнення бачення «України без сиріт», залучити та оснастити нових учасників;
- мотивувати Церкви і християнську спільноту для практичного служіння дітям і сім’ям, створювати безпосередні можливості для його реалізації;
- впливати на формування суспільної думки та державної політики в сфері захисту дітей, популяризувати сімейні цінності та важливість допомоги дітям.
Альянс об’єднує понад 100 християнських організацій, які служать більше ніж 17 000 українських дітей-сиріт. Завдяки участі в Альянсі організації та волонтери отримують актуальну інформацію щодо ситуації з дітьми-сиротами, повноцінну статистику в розрізі регіонів і країни, мають можливість постійно підвищувати свої професійні навички та здобувати нові знання, отримують найновіші програми та ресурси для роботи з дітьми і сім’ями, відвідувати професійно-фахові конференції, практичні семінари і тренінги. Для охоплення більшої кількості аудиторії Альянс створює та розповсюджує різноманітні ресурсні матеріали, а саме мотиваційні та інформаційні фільми, відео-ролики, книги та буклети, практичні-навчальні посібники, та інше. Для впливу на діяльність органів державної влади Альянс бере активну участь у профільних робочих і консультативних групах, експертних і громадських радах, створених при відповідних міністерствах і відомствах, тісно співпрацює з українським омбудсменом, працює в напрямку зміни законодавства, тощо. Для розвитку та посилення служіння церков дітям-сиротам Альянс ініціює та проводить різноманітні інформаційні, мотиваційні і тренінгові заходи для пасторів та служителів різних рівнів, створює та розповсюджує тематичні ресурсні матеріали різного спрямування. Одним із потужних заходів є «Всеукраїнський День молитви за сиріт», який об’єднує навколо себе тисячі церков, благодійних і громадських організацій, а також сотні тисяч християн. Для вирішення проблеми сирітства в Україні, Альянс об’єднує та координує зусилля громадських організацій, церков і органів влади на рівні регіонів. З цією метою Альянс проводить регіональні конференції «Область без сиріт», які дозволяють проаналізувати ситуацію та проблеми в окремо взятих області чи місті, оцінити потенціал місцевих організацій, церков і служителів, а також налагодити співпрацю з представниками державної влади та профільних служб. Для формування громадської думки, впливу на суспільство, привернення його уваги до проблеми сирітства і для популяризації в суспільстві сімейних цінностей Альянс ініціює та проводить різноманітні публічні проекти. За ініціативи Альянсу відбувається багато флеш-мобів, прес-конференцій, тематичних виставок, тощо.
