Support for Lindsay Meeker

Support for Lindsay MeekerLindsay spent time with the children in Guatemala in July 2013I first felt God's call to orphan care ministry two years ago. It was by chance as I walked by a book that my mother-in-law had left in our guest room 6 months prior. The book was "Choosing to See" by Mary Beth Chapman. It broke my heart and lit up my life with a passion I never knew I had. I began praying that God would make clear His will for me and the more I took time with Him, the clearer it became...He wanted me to be in orphan care ministry and I was to start in my church. As I prayed, He put on my heart to start an adoption fund ministry. Little did I know that my church had been looking for someone who could get an adoption fund started and manage it. Everything just started fitting together like a puzzle. Only God can manifest such perfect situations. The fund was launched on Orphan Sunday November 2012. It was such a great day as we gathered with our Eternal church family to learn what the bible has to say about Christians caring for the widows and orphans, praying together for orphans all over the world.

Support for Lindsay MeekerMy life took an unexpected turn later in November when I found out I had a rare hind brain condition called Chiari 1 Malformation. I had surgery to help relieve the symptoms in May 2013 and began the journey to recovery. God continued to work in my heart and in September 2013 I found that A Family for Every Orphan (formerly Doorways to Hope) was looking for an intern. I had been praying for two years for a ministry opportunity with an organization like AFFEO. After meeting with a member of the staff, I began working with them and attended the Annual Board meeting in Seattle. I have loved every minute of my work with them and was beyond thrilled to accept an invitation to come on staff! Orphan care has become such a way of life for me, and my family. I want to make a difference in lives of children that need the love of a permanent family.

As I begin my new journey with A Family for Every Orphan, I pray that I have people that believe in me and God's call on my life and will consider supporting me through prayer, encouragement, and partnerships.

Thank you for reading about my journey and for supporting me in any way you feel led!
