"Secret Angels" Bring Hope!

"Secret Angels" Bring Hope!

An innovative couple working with one of our partners in Murmansk, Russia recently began a project called "Secret Angels." It allows children in orphanages to start relationships with secret angels in their community by writing or drawing pictures. Each child is then matched with a secret angel adult who is committed to correspond with the child.

After a few months, the child and angel can meet in person. Our partner members have found it fascinating that the children can always guess who their secret angels are! And that one of the first questions each kid asks when meeting his/her angel, is, "Where are your wings?"

As time goes on, if both parties agree (and with all legal/supervision in place by the caregivers), the angels can visit their children in the orphanage and even bring them home for short visits. This truly provides a unique opportunity for connection and bonding between the orphans and caring adults.

"Secret Angels" Bring Hope!

The couple who started the project wanted to construct it scientifically and include best practices. They knew exactly how to do this and perfectly understood the issues since the wife worked in an orphanage and her husband is a former orphan.

This program began at an orphanage known as “the place no one ever leaves.” Seventeen of the 20 kids who participated in the program last year have maintained a relationship with their angel. Eight of these 17 were adopted by their angel and five are in the process of being adopted!

This year, 46 of the 47 children at the orphanage are signed up for the "Secret Angel" program. Additionally, the local government has recognized the effectiveness of this program and has approached our partner with the desire to use their model in orphanages across the region … and possibly make it a nationwide project! Pray with us that God would make this a reality!

You Helped Change Radha's World!

You Helped Change Radha's World!

At a young age, Radha was abandoned at an orphanage in India because she has sickle cell anemia. This blood disorder labeled her a child with special needs—likely delaying or preventing her chances for adoption.

Thankfully, our partners conduct investigations that declare children like Radha legally free for adoption and give them a profile on the government adoption registry. Just a few months after Radha was placed on this registry, a couple and their two biological children met Radha and fell in love with her. She is now home! She is learning Hindi and English and loves to go sailing and traveling with her new family.

Without your prayers and the financial gifts from Christ's body, children like Radha may never get the opportunity to know the love of a forever family. Thanks to you, she and other orphans in India have a second chance at experiencing unconditional love from earthly parents, and at knowing the love of their heavenly Father. Thank you!

Let's Join Orphan Sunday Prayers on November 11!

During the second weekend of November 2018, a unified effort by Christians and the Jewish community in 85 nations around the world will take place as a weekend of prayer for vulnerable children.

Since 2002, churches around the world have been uniting to pray for orphans and other vulnerable children on the second Sunday in November. Last year synagogues across the globe joined us by observing Orphan Shabbat and will do so again this year November 9-10.

With 400,000 children in US foster care and 15 million worldwide who’ve lost both parents, thousands of churches and synagogues will lift up their needs, celebrate God’s special love for orphaned and vulnerable children, and show participants what ordinary people can do to put that love into action. Let’s join our hearts with theirs in prayer to see these children reunited with their families or placed in loving forever families!

Join the Prayer Movement

At the present time, 153 million children in our world are orphans. If these children were counted as a single nation, they would compose the seventh largest nation on earth. Join us in praying that God provides a home for each of these precious little ones who long for a loving family!
